The Balloon Artists and Suppliers Association of Australasia is made up of members from each state association.
1997 marked the inaugural year of awards to those individuals who had contributed most to the growth of the balloon industry. Such individuals are recognised as a reward for outstanding contributions to the industry, in particular those early pioneers who helped build the foundation for the many small businesses that comprise our membership today.
Margie
has contributed to the life of the industry through the
establishment of BASA SA.
Margie has provided continuous support as director and member
of her state association since it’s inception in 1991.
Offering her tireless roll in the establishment of BASA
Australasia she promoted the National concept of the industry
and she undertook the roll as National President in 1999.
To see the growth of the accreditation and quality within
professional balloon décor she complied the beginnings of the
BASA accreditation programme and Code of Practice.
South Australia’s Association had a leader in Margie Monk when
they hosted the 1995 “Titanic Event” a convention to remember.
Still eager to support the industry Margie contributed to the
2003 convention in Hobart “Antarctic The Event”
A tireless worker for State and National while still running
her successful business Margie has provided many more
activities and sacrifice some of which we will never know.

Peter started in the balloon industry about 1984 to help his daughter achieve her dream of being in a party business, from then there was no looking back.
Peter was one of the first supporters and committee members of BASA NSW in 1993.
His roll as BASA NSW treasurer has always been admired with the way he handles the books. Peter has contributed to the life of the industry as a continuous supporter of all activities and training classes.
Peter took on the roll as Treasurer of BASA NSW again in 2001 -2005.
Peter also included the roll as BASA A National Treasurer in 2003 to 2006.
Peter has been on the organising committee for ABC 2005.
Peter was awarded Life Membership 2007 for his outstanding
contributions to the industry.

The first official the meeting was in 17th March 1993 and the association was called the “Balloon industry Association of NSW”
Raymond was the first President and has continued to be actively involved each year in the NSW association.
Raymond’s enthusiasm for the benefit of the association, saw him take the position within BASA Australasia as Vice president 1997 – 2001 and secretary 2005 – 2010.
Raymond has also been involved in the organizing the Balloon Conventions ABC 1997 balloons by the beach, 2003 the Antarctic Event, 2007 the Art of Balloons.
Raymond was awarded Life Membership in 2009 for his
outstanding contributions to the industry.

Gunter has been in the balloon industry for 32 years and
has a background of working in film &
television as well as attending art school. In 1986 he started
Balloons Galore in Brisbane and along
with his team of talented co – workers he has won many awards
in the balloon industry both internationally and Nationally.
Gunter has been President of BASA QLD since 1993 and Director of BASA A since 1997.
Gunter has also been a presenter at all previous Australasian Balloon Conventions in Australia.
Gunter was awarded Industry Recognition Award in 2001 for his outstanding contributions to the industry.
Gunter has continued his support of the industry and we are pleased to present, Life Membership in 2012.

This honour takes the form of a plaque which is presented to the person nominated and chosen by his or her peers at each Bi Annual National Convention.
Ken
Airth was one of the first Balloon businesses in Sydney and
provided endless encouragement and support to many up and
coming balloon artists. Ken’s business helped put Balloons
into the Public’s eye and event market with the 1988 Bi
centenary, Expo QLD and Commonwealth Games.
Ken was awarded this for his outstanding contributions to
the industry.
Newton
Sanbrook started Australia’s only balloon manufacturing
company1960 called Sanbrook Rubber Company “ The Balloon
Factory” which still exists today. It was Newton’s endeavour
to create the Australia balloon with a huge range of colours
and variety. He expanded into hardware and accessories which
are all common tools we use everyday in the balloon industry.
Newton and his company’s have supported the industry which has seen the name Sanbrook as a major sponsor at each National Convention.
Newton was awarded this for his outstanding
contributions to the industry.
Jean
Michel is known for his creative design and imagination. In
1998 Jean Michel with the co-operation of Premier Balloons
designed, manufactured and created the Product known as the
“Link o Loon”. It was this new concept of a balloon with a Tip
and Tail that provided our industry a new and exciting tool to
add into the ever increase creative designs that Balloon
artists use.Jean Michel was awarded this for his
outstanding contributions to the industry.
Gunter has been in the balloon industry for 22 years and has a

Raymond is one of the many people who have balloons as a
passion and enjoyment for their career, as a small business in
this industry he has contribute time and effort to the growth
of Balloon Artists and Suppliers Association. As founding
president Raymond started the NSW Association. He contributed
to the foundation of the National Association where he was
Vice President. He has also supported the industry with education and teaching since 1985. As a Bi Annual convention committee person for ABC 1997 and ABC 2003 Raymond has encouraged many young businesses to new heights.
Raymond was awarded this for his outstanding contributions to the industry.
Peter

Robyn
along with her husband Brian was one of the first supporters
and committee members of BASA Vic in 1990. Robyn has
contributed to the industry in all rolls as a committee
member, Robyn also was a major force in putting on conventions
in 1993 Melbourne and 2001 in Bendigo. Robyn has contributed
her knowledge and enthusiasm as a presenter and teacher to
many industry classes.
Robyn was awarded this for her
outstanding contribution to the Balloon & Party industry.
Sue
started her balloon career with Premier Balloons in sales and
gained the friendship of many customers in the industry.
Her participation and support on behalf of Premier Balloons as a wholesaler’s representative to the Balloon Association’s across Australia has been very much appreciated, going far and beyond the call of duty.
Sue changed companies in 2008 to Alpen Products where she continues to support the Association’s activities.
Sue was awarded this for her
outstanding contribution to the Balloon & Party industry.
Tina
started her Shivoo balloon career in 2001 and quickly became
involved with Victoria’s BASA, where she supported and took on
various committee roles. She was on the committee for the ABC
2099 convention where she organized the presenters.
Tina took on the role of president BASA Vic in 2010 and again through herself into the State & National Association with endless support.
Tina was awarded this for her
outstanding contribution to the Balloon & Party industry.
